Butler-appointed rooms are theatrical, thanks to the wondrous touch of film director Baz Luhrmann and wife Catherine Martin.

Faena Hotel Miami Beach is the first triumph of Argentinian developer Alan Faena’s forthcoming Faena District, an eight-block stretch in mid-Beach, Miami. His utopia will also encompass developments such as a condominium tower by Sir Norman Foster and cultural center designed by Rem Koolhaas of OMA. The hotel, which took over the circa-1947 Saxony, is already making waves. Gawk at the garden’s gilded Damien Hirst sculpture of a woolly mammoth, then wander through the gold-leaf-adorned Cathedral, which showcases eight murals created by Argentinian artist Juan Gatti. Thanks to the wondrous touch of film director Baz Luhrmann and wife Catherine Martin, the 169 butler-appointed rooms are just as theatrical, with hues of red and teal bolstered by late Deco influences. Carrara marble bathrooms with freestanding tubs, private balconies, and bespoke Italian linens all heighten the upscale feel. Attesting to the ascent of Miami’s dining scene is the restaurants from powerhouse chefs Paul Qui and Francis Mallmann. Unwind in one after a treatment in Tierra Santa, the South American-inspired spa that utilizes oils sourced from the rainforest.
